SPUC undertook a determined effort to assist in ensuring the recent defeat of the Assisted Suicide Bill in Scotland, helping to mobilise tens of thousands of supporters to contact their MSPs over the long process of the bill’s passage through the Scottish Parliamentary process and especially at the critical times when votes were arising. This was supported by a sustained programme of briefings, events, and public engagement to ensure the risks of the legislation were clearly understood. The result is a significant safeguard for vulnerable people and a reminder that determined, coordinated action can still influence the direction of public policy in defence of human life.
